Meet Braxton Banks - Candidate for Oklahoma House District 85
Braxton Banks is running to represent House District 85 in central Oklahoma, which includes The Village, Nichols Hills, and parts of Oklahoma City. A proud Oklahoman since the age of four, Braxton grew up in Edmond and has spent most of his life right here in the heart of our state.
In 2007, Braxton began his career as a hairstylist at Schardein & Co. Salon. What started as a creative pursuit quickly became a lifelong passion for connecting with people. Through thousands of conversations with clients over the years, Braxton developed a deep understanding of the real issues everyday Oklahomans face, from rising costs and healthcare concerns to the need for better education and stronger communities.
Braxton earned his degree from Oklahoma City Community College in 2018 and has continued his professional development through ongoing education in the cosmetology field. He believes in lifelong learning, personal growth, and staying connected to the people he serves.
In 2024, Braxton was elected to The Village City Council, where he currently serves as Vice Mayor. In this role, he has been a strong voice for transparency, community engagement, and practical solutions to local challenges. His experience in city government has shown him that progress happens when leaders listen, collaborate, and prioritize people over politics.
Now, Braxton Banks is ready to bring that same dedication and real-world experience to the Oklahoma Legislature. He is running for office because he believes public service should be rooted in compassion, common sense, and community, not partisanship. His top priorities include investing in public education, supporting small businesses and working families, expanding access to mental health resources, and building safer, healthier neighborhoods across House District 85.
When he's not working or on the campaign trail, Braxton enjoys spending time with his partner, friends, family, and exploring Oklahoma City’s vibrant local food and arts scene.

I began my career in the beauty industry with a simple goal: to find work I truly loved. What started at Duncan Brothers School of Hair Design in Edmond grew into a lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and community. From training with world-class colorists and educators to opening my own business, Salon Exclusive, I’ve built my career on hard work, integrity, and a passion for helping others succeed. At my salon, I trained and mentored stylists who went on to build independent, thriving careers of their own, proving that when we invest in people, our whole community grows stronger. Along the way, I earned my Master Barber and Cosmetology Instructor licenses, continuing to teach and inspire the next generation of professionals. Teaching reminded me that leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about empowering others to reach their full potential. Now, as an independent stylist and small-business owner in House District 85, I’m focused on giving back to the community that has given so much to me. I believe in opportunity, accountability, and lifting others up. Whether behind the chair or in public service, my mission is the same: to make people feel seen, valued, and confident, and to build a stronger, more connected Oklahoma for everyone, just as Braxton Banks aims to do within the Oklahoma Legislature.
